Long Lake, Washburn County's largest and best all-around fishing lake. A 4,000 acre, 16 mile long lake with 99 miles of shoreline, it is loaded with walleyes - of course, since it is Wisconsin's Walleye Capital! It also produces some very large bass, northern, crappie and bluegill. Some of the other fish sought here are cisco, perch and bullheads. Long Lake is very deep with maximum depths up to 74 feet. Ice fishing is very popular and produces the same big results as summer fishing. Lots of waterfowl, such as wood ducks, teal, coot, mallards, and the ever fascinating loon also favor the lake, along with muskrats, beavers and bald eagles.
